Many different ideas I have heard from many GMs here on just how many games to sim a day.
One Gm suggested 1 game per day. That is fine by me, but that means every GM has to set aside time for 162 games plus the playoffs to complete one season. I don't know if all of you have that time.
Some others have suggested 1 week of games per day. That is a much quicker pace and may actually be a bit too quick.
Maybe a week of simulation every other day? That way it gives everyone a chance to get the .mog file, digest the information, and get back to me before the next sim starts up. It also gives me (and perhaps some other staff) to post up the stats here.
What do you all think? NOW is the time to make suggestions or comments.

I was in a league similar to this and we ran sims on M-W-F, and we did 5 days of sims each day so 15 days of simulation a week would be done, know that may be too many for some, so maybe we could do sims by series( roughly 3 day sims ) on M-W-F so that we have an in between day to adjust our lineups, accordingly ( injury, hot/cold guys, anything , etc) This would sim 9 days per real life week and finish a season in roughly in 17 weeks or 4 months, prior to playoffs, then drafts, etc so we could generally finish 2 seasons per calendar year. I am fine with that type of structure, but if anyone has any suggestions let them rip so we can fine tune this with the guidelines finalized by the Commish of course, again just my 21 cents Thanks in advnace for any input JMAC NY METs

I'm not too concerned about this, but I think 1 game per day is a pretty bad idea and would take way too long to complete.
I would prefer a week to 10 days per sim, and 3 sims per week. This will keep it fast enough so rebuilding teams stay interested, and not too fast as to where it goes by without enjoyment.
Keeping things moving is really important in these leagues.

I'm pretty open to however we run the simulation during the regular season. However, I do have one idea that I think would be great and I have seen implemented in other leagues.
For the playoffs, I suggest live games(live managing). It puts the ball in your hands as a manager to do the managing when it's down to crunch time and I think it would be a lot of fun also. I can further explain if I need to but it's a pretty easy process.

I haven't seen it done for the entire playoffs, but I have seen it done for the World Series and it's definitely a cool event. Most managers in the league show up to an AIM chat room where a PBP goes on. It's a lot of fun.

I like the idea of simming a week at a time with three sims per week. I think that would please the majority of owners and allow time to adjust rosters for injuries or to just tinker with your rotation, BP or whatever.
Just my two cents on the matter.

Sorry for the apathy, but I would be happy with any of the before mentioned sim strategies. I also really like the idea of a live managing of the playoff games through AIM or whatnot.

Thanks for the suggestions.
It looks like a week at a time and 3 sims per week is the most favored approach and I am fine with that. I am working on not only getting out a mog file for each sim that will be posted ASAP after the simming, but also posting the stats for each team in batting, fielding, and pitching after each sim as well with help from a few people.
The live manager suggestion for the playoffs with a pitch by pitch account is very interesting and if all the components can work (every body has a schedule where they can meet on AIM and manage their team) then I am all for that. Would the managers be calling every pitch or ?
Thank you for the ideas guys. Like I said, I want to hear from all of you so if you have something to offer, please post it. If it is a good idea and gains support from the other GM's and it is doable, I will include it.

How I've seen it done in the past is this:
You sim every at bat, not every pitch.
You would be talking to "Manager A" and "Manager B" in seperate AIM boxes, then there would be a chat room if other league members want to spectate.
Both managers would send you their strategy before every at bat, then you would simulate it and relay the results to all parties involved.

Yes, you simulate every at bat. Basically the gist of it is, to speed things up, you would have Team A(pitcher) and Team B(batter) post a mark to indicate they're ready. For example the old league I was in would use a period mark for this. That way the person running the game knows they're ready and it's a lot simpler than typing something out everytime. And of course, that allows them to type out a move they may want to make instead of typing the mark when they feel a move needs to be made.
I think it would be great to implement that during the playoffs, and it will serve as an extra reward to those GM's that get their teams to the playoffs.

Sounds good to me. For sins and grins I think it might be a good idea to try out a few test runs with a couple of the GMs here if they don't mind and make sure that I understand it fully before we get into the playoffs with this sort of thing.
I will be busy tomorrow for most of the day, but maybe Thursday or over the weekend if anybody has some time I can just run a game with two random teams just to get the technical side of things down. Any helpers?

I will be free anytime between 2EST and 9EST tomorrow afternoon/night. I would love to go through the test run and show you the ideas I was speaking of.
